The normal tempature range of your schnauzer is 100.5 to 102.5 degrees. A rectal thermometer is what you can use to take his temperature. Before using, the thermometer, be certain to drive the mercury down into the bulb reservoir of the instrument by shaking it downward with snapping action. The level of the mercury should be below the 96 degree mark.

Lubricate the tip of the thermometer with a small amount of Vaseline. Insert the instrument 2 inches and leave in place for 2 minutes.

Don't let the dog sit down....
